The AHTA National Conference was held in Adelaide on the 18th,19th and 20th of August 2023 titled “Reaching Full Potential”.
It was an inspiring conference with Dave Parsons as the keynote speaker.
Suzanne as an invited speaker gave a presentation on “Mindfulness: Exploring its use in Hand Therapy". She discussed, 'What is the X-factor in therapeutic relationships and outcomes: what do we do beyond evidence-based treatment or clinical decision making?' and 'How do we enhance the patient experience and how do we care for ourselves as hand therapists?'.
Kinley Tshering, Physiotherapist from Bhutan, was awarded a scholarship to attend the conference. He was partly sponsored and hosted by Suzanne for the three weeks whilst he was in Adelaide. Kinley presented on hand injuries in Bhutan, and the development of hand therapy over the past 13 years.
